Opened in 1984, Mumtaz Mahal boasts of having been voted the best Indian restaurant in the Sultanate 10 times. Perched high on the hill above Qurum Park, it offers a superb view of the city. The menu offers North Indian cuisine: chicken tikka massala, fish curry, tandoori shrimps, lobster soup with coriander... and a wide range of vegetarian dishes. Unlike Aram, his beige door neighbor, Kumar's colors are dark. The style is modern, hip and a little industrial, with a waxed concrete floor and lots of black accents on the ceiling and furniture. The terrace, on the other hand, is the opposite of the dining room: an oasis of serenity on the dazzling white esplanade of the elegant House of Musical Arts. The menu features fusion/Indian cuisine from lunch to dinner, including tandoori shrimp, lamb briyani and chicken massala risotto.
