PRICKLY PEAR FESTIVAL

The Prickly Pear Festival is held annually at Cuyler Hofstede Farm on the outskirts of Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape's Nelson Mandela Bay. At the end of February and the beginning of March, it is a celebration of traditional foods such as the beloved ginger bread, pancakes, potjiekos, jam, or bunnychow, the famous sandwich bread stuffed with spiced meat in sauce (a Durban speciality), but also homemade puddings and the famous braai.
