Under the old hall of the beautiful covered market of Cân Tho, traditional Vietnamese cuisine and delta specialties such as shrimps cooked with mango. Also on the menu: French and Italian dishes, and for the more adventurous, frogs and snakes. Open all day long, to eat or simply have a coffee or an ice cream. An address also to get information about the region. Vegetarians and vegans welcome. Located on the Mekong River, the restaurant has a nice view on the river.

What could be more unusual and unlikely than to find a French restaurant on an island in the middle of the Mekong? Françoise and Michel chose the restaurant's name in homage to Michel's grandparents, who lived near Halong Bay for a quarter of a century. The young but very promising Vietnamese chef, Vo Quoc Thach, will delight you with artistic dishes that are the result of a fusion between Vietnamese and French cuisine. Superb setting.

The vegetarian restaurant at the Tinh Nghiem pagoda, just a few steps away, has a glittering atmosphere. Enjoy a meal in the pleasant garden. The room is large and bright, with impressive long tables where you can sit and get to know your neighbors. Creative, rich vegetarian cuisine. Plenty of fried food, but also salads and fried noodles. For dessert, a few pieces of sweet watermelon will round off your meal.

This restaurant is a local institution. It's been open since 1946! The menu highlights Vietnamese and Asian cuisine with caramel pork, noodle soup, seafood dishes and lâu: a kind of stew served in a circular dish heated on charcoal. The speciality, however, is fish simmered in a terracotta pot and seasoned with a pork sauce. Popular with locals. Small downside: the price-quality ratio is not always up to the reputation of the establishment.

Popular restaurant, local beer and meat specialties, including the homemade grilled chicken for which it is famous. Great variety of specialties at low prices. Open kitchen with no secrets. No fuss again, but a smart address for small budgets. Wide choice of dishes, each one more appetizing than the next. The Vietnamese love to order a lot and share. Do not hesitate to do the same to discover a maximum of flavours and local specialities. Beware however, the bill can become salty.

Good and cheap popular cuisine. You can enjoy spicy catfish soup. The menu is very (too?) eclectic as it even offers ostrich steak, snake and crocodile. Vegetarians and vegans can rest assured that there are also menus to satisfy them. The quality of the dishes is nevertheless average. The establishment is mainly frequented by Western tourists. It is located near the pier. Reasonable prices and, bonus, the menu is translated into French which is quite practical!

Just a few minutes from Cai Bè, emerging from the lush surroundings of a former longan plantation, this restaurant has been housed in a magnificent colonial house on the banks of the Phu An River since May 2006. It offers the perfect opportunity to take a gastronomic break from the hustle and bustle of the floating market. The setting is absolutely superb, serving fine Vietnamese cuisine. Le Longanier is managed by the Victoria Hotels chain. It also organizes cruises in the delta aboard traditional boats.
