Where to practice an individual sport Rethymno

EOS is the official Greek association of mountain people. The branch in Rethymnon is very active, very well organized and reliable. Since 1961, it is composed of enthusiasts who organize many mountain outings: hiking, climbing, canyoning, visits to caves... The association plays a very active role in the promotion of this kind of activities which are sometimes little known. The members mark out and maintain the paths, manage the refuges...

An enormous vertical limestone wall stands at the end of the bay of Plakias. This cliff is just a few metres from the beach with a rock of excellent quality, up to 80 metres high. Some bolts need to be replaced, but most of them are passable. The wall faces north-west and it is possible to climb almost all day long, even during the summer. Types of holds: vertical, rulers, cracks and small columns. Beware! The routes are difficult: for experienced climbers only.
