A favorite in the medina! Excellent table for lunch, very good address for tea and a real reference for its cultural events, El Ali is above all a beautiful family story. That of Taïeb Bouhadra, who, after inheriting the house, could not resist sharing it with as many people as possible. On the menu, traditional dishes are complemented by a revisited section and the chef's inspirations; with vegetarian and gluten-free dishes as options. The welcome is very warm, and the decoration is well done. To discover!

If the initial vocation of this café was above all cultural (support to artists, exhibition place, national newspapers at the disposal of the customers...) and if it wanted to be the meeting place of the artists and the intellectuals of the Tunisian place, the Café Journal has only the name of it. It is in reality a hype café frequented by the Tunisian golden youth. It remains however a good address for a coffee on the heights of Gammarth. An address to come and have your coffee in the morning before going to the coast of Carthage!

At the top of the main street, there are still a few steps to climb to enter one of the most famous establishments in town. Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery and Johnny Hallyday used to stay there. In other times, it was Paul Klee, Simone de Beauvoir, Montherlant or André Gide, and their memory still hovers there. Lying on the mats, visitors sip their mint tea or gurgle their chicha. Those who like a nice view will prefer the terrace with a panoramic view of the Café des délices.

It is THE terrace café that you see on all the posters of Sidi Bou Said. With an unobstructed view of the bay, Korbous in the distance and the Bou Kornine mounts which point twice in the background, one can only stop and admire... And when the sun sets, and the visitors of the day withdraw, the atmosphere becomes more local, more muffled, honeyed. We appreciate the maze of terraces and the colored mats. A big regret however: just like at the Café des Nattes, the drinks are expensive and served without real attention, too bad!
