Abbeys monasteries and convents Yvelines

In 1118, the Cistercian monks of Savigny built an abbey on the banks of the Vaux stream, 3 km from Cernay. After clearing and cultivating the plateau, they devoted themselves to their library, which became one of the most important in the region. Under the direction of Abbé Guy, the abbey was given a cloister, chapter house and convent buildings. In 1873, Baron Henry de Rothschild had the abbey restored and used it to house his hunting teams.
