The most beautiful natural sites to discover Ljubljana

The city's largest park began to take shape in 1813 according to the plans of the French engineer Jean Blanchard. Today, it covers almost 5 km2 and is divided into three parts by large avenues of chestnut trees. Geometric paths, flower squares, beautiful trees, numerous statues, fountains and a training path with accessories for outdoor exercises, the place is ideal for relaxation a few hundred meters from the center. It is the Ljubljanese's favourite place on Sundays in the green, to enjoy a beautiful panorama without having to travel a lot. The mountain is easily recognizable about fifteen kilometres north of the capital with its two peaks of 676 m and 669 m. Šmarna Gora was already occupied in prehistoric times. The lowest peak is set with a church erected in 1712 dethroning a chapel that was built in 1314. The surrounding wall dates from Turkish invasions. A beautiful break to leave in communion with nature!
