Easter festivities are very popular in Brazil. To mark the occasion, food superstores cover their shelves and store ceilings with chocolate eggs, perfumes and colorful packaging. The chocolates are distributed on Easter Sunday. It's also traditional to eat fish on Passion Friday, a public holiday. In some states, the representation of Christ's death is the subject of a theatrical performance. From the crucifixion to the resurrection, locals are always out in force to follow the processions.
