PROCESSION DE LA MARE DE DÉU DEL CARME

The Mare de Déu del Carme is the patron saint of the sea. It is celebrated in La Savina and Es Pujols on 16 July. The bishop of Ibiza opens the mass in El Pujols. This is followed by the procession of the icon of the Virgin, which is taken to a fisherman's boat that will take it out to sea. All the fishermen of the island can accompany the procession with their own boat. Once in the sea, a crown of flowers is thrown into the water while prayers are recited.
