VERTICAL BHUTAN

Mountaineering and Climbing

Southwest of Thimphu, a projecting rock called "The Nose" is a rock face that has been developed as a climbing site. It is said to have been discovered about 30 years ago by Stefan Priesner, an Austrian, but it was later that the first climbing routes were created (late 1990s). This site has notably allowed the development of climbing in Bhutan, which has become an increasingly popular sport among locals. Contact the club (the Bhutan Rock Climbing Club) for information on climbing schedules.
