This self-service cafe, located in the middle of the centre offers hot dishes, salads and desserts. 

Probably the restaurant with the best view in all Jelgava, since it's located on the island of Pasta, between the Driska and Lielupé rivers. When the weather's nice (and you've reserved a table facing the windows), it's great. The restaurant is flooded with light and its red armchairs are brilliant. In the kitchen, it's the desserts that really shine. You can come here for a snack (or brunch) after a stroll around the island. Otherwise, you'll find a menu of classic European cuisine that does the trick, and the plates are beautifully laid out.

The name of the establishment (chocolate and pepper) reflects its philosophy: sweet or savory, there's something for everyone. Right next to the Maison de la Culture, this vast café, dressed in warm tones of milk chocolate and spices, welcomes you at lunchtime (with daily specials at reduced prices). In the afternoon, you can sit down for a hot chocolate, and in the evening, you can choose from a well-stocked menu, with something for everyone: soups, salads, meat, fish, a fine vegan selection, cocktails, a good wine list... Twenty years and counting!
