This traditional ceremony celebrates the end of the rainy season and the transition from the cycle of abundance to the southern winter. It is the entry into time of restrictions, and the beginning of drought: the land from now on will no longer produce at all. Once marked by important rites and rituals, this key moment in ancestral life still gives rise to several large-scale demonstrations today. On 20 November, the "Matarii i ni'a" will celebrate the arrival of the southern summer.
