If you don't have enough time to explore the river over several days, you can appreciate some aspects in just one day or a few hours. The activities offered by ADNG (Association pour la découverte de la nature en Guyane) are aimed at children, but most are also suitable for adults. Although the Vent d'Ouest sailing school works mainly with extracurricular groups, it also offers private and group lessons (for special events, for works councils for example) to children and adults alike, whatever their level, whether beginner or advanced. All outings and courses are supervised by a state-qualified instructor, and the structure is certified by the French Federation, affiliated to the DDJS.

To meet one of the facilitators of this association, go to the headquarters at the end of the hospital, near the Chinese village (house with tembé decoration).

The club, located in the village of Balaté, right next to the famous La Goélette restaurant, is run by a team of sports enthusiasts as friendly as they are passionate, and offers introductory courses, white-water outings (passing jumps) and discovery outings around Saint-Laurent. All our guides are fully qualified, and all equipment is provided for excursions. Canoe-kayak rental available. Please enquire on site.

Kayak or canoe rental for 2 or 3 people. An excellent way to discover the banks of the Maroni on the French and Surinamese sides with friends! Possible itineraries (booking required 24 hours in advance): Wacapou (with return possible by canoe, bike or on foot), Saut Sonnelle (45-minute trip by canoe and return by kayak), Gobaya Soula waterfalls (20-minute trip by canoe + 40-minute walk and return by kayak), Daouda creek (one-hour trip - 3km - by canoe and return by canoe). A great experience, and a real change of scenery.

To discover Saint-Laurent's heritage and lush green environment from a bird's eye view, there's nothing like a flight in an ultralight motorized glider (ULM). Enjoy superb views of the river and the dense Amazon rainforest, guided by pilots as friendly as they are passionate. You can buy your ticket for a first flight directly on the website. As a bonus, you'll be able to take home a video of the flight! Parachute jumping is also available.
