On the seafront, 5 minutes from the center, a psistaria as the Greeks call it, i.e. a tavern specializing in grilled meat and fish. Generous portions and strong Mediterranean flavours. For vegetarians, the pasta dishes, fried or grilled vegetables and salads are also very good. A fine address with a view of harbor life. The food has something for everyone, and the bill remains moderate. And maybe you'll be served by Marietta, who is very attentive and quick.

An unpretentious place from the street, but the food is really very good. Inside, it's even a little more sophisticated than a traditional tavern. Local specialties include Captain's Soup (fish, lobster, mussels, shrimp and vegetables), mussel risotto, grilled calamari. Excellent wine. The house lemonade is also very, very good and fantastic on a hot day, as is the chicken club sandwich with home fries for a snack. A good address and good value for money.

This restaurant was recommended to us several times and we were not disappointed! The owners, originally from Cyprus, were quick to establish the (good) reputation of the place. Try the kotsi (roasted pork with vegetables), baked peppers, seafood saganaki (gratinated with feta) or one of the excellent salads on the menu. The grilled swordfish is also tasty. The locals also come here for the good atmosphere at the end of the week, but you'd better behave yourself (of course, with the police station next door!).

This restaurant offers a pleasant retreat compared to more touristy sites. Wooden floors and tables and rustic decor. Gerasimos, the owner, is no stranger to the reputation of the place. Excellent homemade olive oil, grilled meats and the best gyros in Skala! On the menu, traditional Greek cuisine, fish, some vegetarian options and fabulous desserts. Generous portions, pleasant flavours and, in the end, a reasonable bill.

On a wooden terrace, the lapping of water under your feet. As its name suggests, this restaurant is located on the quays (akti). This traditional tavern by the water's edge offers great classics such as moussaka, cephalonian pies, rabbit or fish. But their specialities also include pork with applesauce or rooster in wine with homemade potatoes. Or, on the sea side, wonderful mussels, shellfish and fresh fish (try swordfish). Beautiful wine list and seasonal dishes.

We have dined here several times and have always eaten fresh fish and seafood at reasonable prices. Our recommendation: swordfish steak! Despite some exterior renovations, the kitchen has not moved and remains good, with a touch of originality, and generous portions. Try zucchini croquettes, local langoustines, lobster spaghetti, meat pie or the hearty "Vasso's" salad. Beautiful wine list and impeccable service. The staff is friendly and professional.

Watch out, celebrity in the kitchen! Founded in 1972, this restaurant was the first to open its doors in Fiskardo, but above all it is a family restaurant, owned by Tassia Dendrinou, an internationally renowned chef and Greek author of cookery books, and her brother Polychronis Dendrinos. The fame of the place is also due today to the celebrities who sit at its tables! In spite of this jet-set side, it nevertheless serves very honest seasonal dishes, fish and appetizers with softly iodized flavours

At the end of the port, after the tourist shops. From the terrace of this tavern, the view on the bay and on Ithaca is extraordinary. Fresh and home-made products, the speciality is fish and shellfish but there is something for everyone! The feet in the water, you can also have a drink or breakfast. The place is beautiful with a fast service and very friendly staff. There are also a few rooms for rent here from €60. Great value for money for insiders only in season, but always ask.

A hidden treasure of Argostoli? In any case, it is a restaurant with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. Cephalonian specialities and the possibility to choose in the kitchen, a sign of quality. Pastissio (pasta millefeuille with minced meat and béchamel sauce), cheese puffs covered with honey and sesame, small pasta cooked with octopus, baked chicken with potatoes, everything is excellent! Succulent meat pie and rocket salad with parmesan very fresh. Very good service and an honest bill.

On the waterfront, 5 minutes from the centre, this tavern is the Greek favourite. Enjoy a kreatopita (meat pie) or castro (pork in wine). Beautiful atmosphere with traditional wooden tables and chairs and checkered tablecloths. An authentic address!

Among the latest addresses to open, this one hides in an elegant courtyard in Argostoli. Terre Mouikis is a bar-restaurant that's causing a stir with its modern, refined cuisine and creative cocktails. The menu by Cephalonian chef Asimakis Chaniotis (formerly of London's Michelin-starred Pied à Terre) features quality local produce and locally inspired recipes, such as the "riganada" of fresh tomatoes and wild oregano, with garlic and feta mousse and pan-fried squid: a version of the traditional Cephalonian meat pie.
