Hiking Snowdonia

An information centre has been set up in the heart of the forest, where you can organise your family trips, regardless of the age of your children. There is a short walk and then picnic while sitting on tables outside, or organising a mountain bike ride or hiking. The centre also houses a pleasant coffee, with a large, raised terrace overlooking the forest.

There are many walks from the village. One of the most popular is the 15 km Mawddach Trail. On foot or by bike, well signposted, it starts by crossing the Barmouth viaduct and follows the old railroad line before arriving in the center of Dolgellau. Along the way, it's pleasant to stop off at the George III pub in Penmaenpool, which overlooks the estuary. Alternatively, try the Panorama Walk. The trail starts at the end of Porkington Terrace, which has the advantage of leading to a beautiful viewpoint.
