ETENDEKA MOUNTAIN CAMP
Read moreThe 45 000 ha of the Etendeka concession, to the east of the C 43, welcomes a maximum of 16 people in its camp of luxurious tents (2 very comfortable beds, a solar electric lamp, bowls and pitchers as sinks, terrace for sight…). We wash in hot water by filling and suspending a bucket of water using a pulley in a private shower corner. Solar panels save the noise of the generator, and one wakes up to the song of Bokie, the backbakiri gladiator (bokmakierie) who appears to have elected home in Etendeka. Here we come first to observe wildlife, and it is on this point that Dennis Liebenberg has placed the accent after more than 12 years in the service of ecotourism. By creating Etendeka, Dennis is committed not only to protecting the fragile ecosystem of the region, but also to supporting local communities involved in the project and benefiting from tourism revenues. The guided steps allow to observe mammals such as zebras mountains, oryx, springbok and, for the most fortunate, desert elephants and black rhino, but also to immerse ourselves from the mysterious atmosphere of the Damaraland and to open our eyes to the wonders of the flora of this arid biome. Activities: Game drives, stairs, astronomical observation.

PALMWAG RHINOCAMP
Read moreLocated on the famous concession of Palmwag, this camp operates in conjunction with the Save The Rhino Trust NGO. The tracing of black rhino in their breeding area controlled by experts from their conservation is the main activity of the camp (minimum age: 12 years), but discovery of other abundant species in the region is not left aside (Hartmann's zebras, giraffes, sometimes desert elephants). The hotel is very close to the city centre and the hotel is a short walk away. The accommodation is in spacious tents decorated with a very safe taste. It takes at least 2 nights in this camp as long as the taxi route is far from the camp to avoid disturbing wild fauna. Travellers arriving by their own means can be recovered from the Palmwag Lodge after arrangement.
KHOWARIB REST CAMP
Read moreThis camp corresponds to a former protection camp for black rhino by camel patrouille. From the main runway, a sign indicates the camping towards the east by following the gorges of the river Khowarib. Tent and tent locations are available for a few dozen kilograms per person (with toilets and showers). The camp only proposes what we really need: water, a shelter and a sun with a light cast from the end of the afternoon (the reflections of light in the throat are worth displacement alone). It is therefore better to have the necessary arrangements for the duration of the stay. Spectacular views of Khowarib sclucht (gorge) and Hoanib river.
Proposed activities. Guided tours, visit of the traditional village of Anmire, excursions along the Hoanib River, bird observations and reservation, a camel-back hike to observe black (Save the Rhino Camel Patrol) rhino of half an hour to several days (to be reserved with Wildlife Scouts Namibia, P.O. BOX 40105, Windhoek Tel (061) 234 902 - Fax: (061) 230 116 - [email protected]).
