VEVEY BEACH

Natural site to discover

In March 2012, the Vevey authorities decided to no longer make the lower part of the Place du Marché available for the Vevey Plage event. Here, you could relax on a chaise-longue, sip a cocktail with your feet in the sand, or play a game of beach volleyball or pétanque. Instead, the authorities are proposing to set up a beach with sand and umbrellas, as well as a variety of activities (beach volleyball and boules), but without a drinking establishment. The lake is ideal for summer swimming.

PELICAN BEACH

Natural site to discover

This small beach, a veritable island of peace just a few kilometers from the center of Lausanne, has the advantage of perfectly clean water for swimming. There's also a shower for rinsing off. The beach is made of gravel, but there's a nice, fat, green grassy lawn on the shore for lounging in the sun or under the trees right after your swim. Next to the beach, there's also Pelican Park (with its bird statue) and public toilets nearby.

RESERVE NATURELLE ETANG DE LA GRUERE

5/5
1 review

Located in Saignelégier, Switzerland, Etang de la Gruère is a nature reserve offering magnificent scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by wooded pastures, this peat bog pond is home to flora and fauna that are rare in Switzerland, and characteristic of the Siberian tundra. It also bears witness to the region's climate history over the last 12,000 years. Visitors can stroll along the trails and observe the plants and animals typical of the high marshes. We recommend taking a break at the Cerlatez nature center, where thematic exhibits provide a better understanding of the peat bog. Hiking enthusiasts can also extend their visit to the La Chaux-des-Breuleux peat bog, another high moor of national importance. L'Etang de la Gruère can be reached by train to Saignelégier, then by bus to the Les Cerlatez stop, or on foot.
