Here's an interesting hostel in Berne, located in a centrally-located building, an excellent asset for visiting the city (with the Bern card for free transport included). There's a single dormitory with six beds (very popular), basic double or twin rooms with shared or private bathrooms, depending on budget, and family rooms. We appreciate the general cleanliness, the shared fully-equipped kitchen, the lounge with TV, and the practical information provided on arrival.

Built in 1913, this high-rise former sanatorium was converted into a youth hostel in 2002. Since then, it has housed both double rooms and 3- to 6-bed dormitories, all with en suite facilities. Those facing the station have balconies with deckchairs. On the first floor, there are comfortable armchairs for relaxing, and a games area with board games, billiards, table soccer and pinball. The Parsenn ski lifts (from Promenade) are an 8-minute walk away: be careful, it's uphill!
