STARKA
Read moreIt's a small restaurant with an outsized charm. Its red-walled dining room, enamelled with Zille paintings and smelling of fresh flowers in vases between the candles that light up the room, creates a fantastic "entre-soi" atmosphere. The food is also very good, mainly Polish specialties: herring tartare, potato velouté with bacon, bacon canapés and pickles. Vodka is offered as an after-dinner drink. Live music on Wednesdays from 8pm and Fridays from 9:30pm. A place with great value for money.

SKARBNICA SMAKU
Read moreSkarbnica Smaku is the perfect address for those venturing into the Nowa Huta district. With its original, colorful decor and the ambience of a cosy apartment with an old 1980s TV and a large bookcase, this little UFO offers a simple but well-executed menu featuring homemade soups, pierogi, rump steak, burgers and tagliatelle with pesto, for example. For dessert, the apple tart is excellent. A few tables on the terrace in fine weather.
BIAŁA RÓŻA
Read moreNestled in a superb room with tasteful modern decor, this excellent table is well worth a try. Chef Łukasz Cichy offers Polish fusion cuisine with Jewish, Hungarian and Ukrainian influences. Typically Cracovian, modern cuisine that showcases fresh, regional produce with great success. The wine list is also well-stocked. A pianist regularly adds a pleasant touch to the meal. We love it!
PINO
Read moreThis inexpensive, trendy restaurant chain is a big hit in the city. You can either order pizzas made to order in the style of a Subway, or be served good little dishes from the menu. The result is decent, not too industrial or sloppy, as is often the case in this kind of business (as far as the made-to-measure pizza is concerned, the result is up to you). The room is often full and very noisy, the waiters a little overworked and more concerned with getting you off the floor than making you feel at ease.
WELL DONE
Read moreWell Done satisfies Krakow's American fad, offering as authentic an experience as possible in its retro dining room, which still retains a touch of auteur design. The menu covers as many American specialties as possible, from milkshakes and sex on the beach to burritos, burger n'fries, taquitos, pancake mountains, sauce-covered ribs... you get the idea. Well Done also serves a European version, healthier but just as desirable. Another argument in its favor: the prices, quite low.
