Valenciennes is a welcoming city for newcomers, and the AVF association (Accueil des Villes Françaises) is there to help them integrate and discover the city. AVF Valenciennes offers a range of activities and outings to enable newcomers to meet other people and discover the local culture. For example, they organize visits to museums, such as the Ecomusée de l'Avesnois, as well as cultural events, such as English conversations. The association also takes part in the Journées Nationales des Nouveaux Arrivants, an annual event that promotes the welcoming of new arrivals.
