In the south of the province of Tabouk, Umluj is one of the most important towns on the coast. Its main activity is fishing and also tourism. Lovers of diving and crystal clear waters deprived of pollution come to dip their flippers around Umluj for the splendid preserved corals, the colorful fish, the deserted islands and the white sand banks. The lucky ones even manage to spot the shy dugong, an endangered marine mammal that grazes on the shallow seaweed. The village has also preserved some traces of the Ottoman period including the splendid Emir's Palace.
