THE GAME OF PASSION
Since 1930, Masevaux has been the setting for a unique popular show in Alsace. Originally created by Father Hasenforder, this show was written by the Alsatian priest Auguste Schmidlin. For 89 years now, the Association Les Masopolitains has been organizing and playing the game of the Passion every year, with beauty, fervour and solemnity. Year after year, each of the 200 volunteer actors embodies his or her role in the killing of Christ. The show lasts 5 hours, presents 12 paintings and takes place at the Saint-Martin Catholic Circle on Sundays in Lent. We have come a long way to follow this show (Switzerland, Germany, Eastern Europe) which is performed in German. It seems that this does not alter the continued success of the Passion Game, a religious and universal history.
