Capital of the Maï-Ndombe province, Inongo has a population of around 110,000. Inongo is a 100% unspoilt nature trip on the shores of the imposing, shallow Lake Maï-Ndombe (black water), covering an area of 2,300 km². The ideal way to admire the equatorial forest and coastal villages is by motorized pirogue. For this short excursion, be accompanied by a local guide who will introduce you to the villagers. They are champions in the art of oratory, and handle proverbs and songs with heart and soul. A few rustic hotels offer appreciable basic comfort. Inongo is accessible by small aircraft from Kinshasa's Ndolo airport.
