Temple built in 1227, the home of the Joseon dynasty's secret archives, featuring a collection of Buddha statues.
Nestled in the heart of Deogyusan National Park, this temple was built in 1227 by the monk Wolin and rebuilt in 1995 when it took its present location. This temple is famous for having been the house of the secret archives (Sagak) of the Joseon dynasty. The soldier monks lived here to protect the precious documents. The main point of interest of this temple is its collection of Buddha statues from all over the world, which can be admired in the main hall. It is an interesting break during a walk in the national park.
