LICHTENWERTH CASTLE (BURG LICHTENWERTH)

Probably built in the ^12th century in the heart of the Inn valley, Lichtenwerth Castle is the only moated castle in the Tyrol. Its interior features two towers (east and west), a palace, a Gothic chapel and battlements. Little enlarged since the ^14th century, it retains most of its Romanesque appearance. Since 1543, it has remained in the hands of related families. Today, the castle can only be visited from the outside.
