It is the name of a river, and of the vast plain at the exit of Kolwezi where battles took place during the two Shaba wars in 1977 and 1978. But it is also one of the recently discovered deposits of the world's largest undeveloped copper concentration (5.62% as it stands), 100 km from the Zambian border.
