Kani means crab in Japanese. One of the specialties of this region is Matsuba crab, the variety of snow crabs. It is caught in the Sea of Japan from November to March. This is the perfect time to go to Hamasaka. Here you can enjoy a full meal of crab, starting with sashimis crab, then barbecue barbecue and shabu shabu, a Japanese fondue.
