Ōishi Kuranosuke is the leader of the 47 rōnin. He is the one who guided them during the preparation of their revenge. People come here to pray for the realization of his ambitions. At the entrance of the temple are the statues of the 47 rōnin, erected in 1999. The statues on the right represent the rōnin, who led the raid from the back of Yoshinaka Kira's house, those on the left represent the rōnin from the front. The last statue on the right is that of Ōishi. On 4 February, the day the 47 rōnin carried out seppuku, great celebrations were held.
