Travel Guide Reserva Natural Doñana

An authentic finca 40 minutes from Puerto Carreño, on the banks of the Bita River, to discover the rural lifestyle of a lovely family. Nathaly will take you in an SUV. The farm is far from the road, we are far from civilization... On arrival you will be warmly welcomed by "la Mona" and Alejandro, her parents, who had the opportunity to live in the capital, but who have returned to their native land of Vichada, for a healthier life. No one knows nature better than Alejandro, who has decided to turn his property into a vast nature reserve, a 1,200 hectare refuge for flora (reforestation) and local fauna: chaotic birds and endangered animals such as dantas (tapir) or lapas (or pacas, a large rodent that can reach 80 cm in size for its meat). Alejandro is a charismatic llanero, philosopher at his time and nature lover. Accommodation is rustic: night outdoors in chinchorros (large hammocks), or in king size beds. Wake up with parakeets and parrots invading the trees around the house! Meals are served in the traditional way; cooking over a wood fire, with the possibility of participating to discover the traditional dishes of the region. It is the best sancocho de gallinas we have ever tasted and the mamona is a real treat! Many activities to do in the reserve: cycling, fishing in the lagoons, relaxing on the beaches of the river (in summer), horse riding, farm activities, fruit harvesting... A total disconnection: no Internet connection or Colombian telephone network (possibility to connect to the Venezuelan network in case of emergency).
