AL NUKHIDHAH HOUSE

Built in the 1920 s, this former property of Jassim Ajaj, a Nukhidhah (captain), recalls the importance of these sailors who spent their lives at sea. They were the ones who knew the best oysters, the best divers and all the tawawish of the city. Renovated by a German architect, the chosen design recalls the traditional architecture, especially thanks to the choice of materials used, but its lines and perspectives are radically contemporary. Glass windows, natural light wells, steel and museum lighting, this remains the life of its former inhabitants, with manuscripts and archival photos.
