This park covers an area of 227 km² southwest of Białystok. It is famous for the extent of the swampy areas that make it up. The park is also called "Polish Amazon" because of its aquatic labyrinth of water inlets that resembles a spider's web. The park is home to a multitude of animal and plant species adapted to the aquatic environment. Because of the importance of the aquatic environment, fauna and flora are often adapted. The best way to explore the park is by boat, which will allow you to observe the many species of birds living in the Narew valley. Kayaks can be rented, or you can choose the transport used by the locals, aboard a flat-bottomed boat called a pychówka. Along the route you will see towns and villages with traditional houses and thatched roofs, old-fashioned wells, wooden mills and old roadside crosses, as well as whitewashed chapels decorated with multicoloured flowers.
