Five kilometers north of Comala, famous for its coffee and orange trees, it is a small village with cobblestone streets that has preserved many Nahuatl traditions. The hand-crafted, one-piece wooden masks used here have been used for generations and are internationally recognized. They are decorated with vibrant colors and used year-round. These masks are not only decorative objects, but are also used by the inhabitants for various rituals and syncretic dances. The village of Suchitlán is a good short stop on the volcanoes route, ideal to discover the local traditions.
