MUNICIPAL MUSEUM OF MITROVICA-SOUTH

Founded in 1952, this museum (Muzeu i Qytetit, Gradski musej) has been housed since 2009 in a former officers' club of the socialist Yugoslav army. It houses two collections of archaeology and ethnology, including objects from the Vinča culture unearthed at the industrial site of Fafos (votive statuettes and a mask from the^5th millennium BC) and beautiful embroidery from the 18th-20th centuries. Alas, the explanations are succinct and many of the objects are copies.
