With 1,500 km² and 250,000 inhabitants, Kamina is the capital of the Haut-Lomami province. Considered the melting pot of Buluba, the culture of the Baluba, a monument was built in honor of Ilunga Bidi Kiluwe, the founder of the Luba empire, and another for the third president of the DRC, Laurent-Désiré Kabila. Kiluba and Kiswahili are languages of communication. Public transportation is provided mainly by motorcycles. A walk is a nice tourist activity through Kamina. A city with a strong cultural life where various local musicians produce traditional and modern Congolese music.
