The scene is set: a washhouse, a pretty church, craft stores and taverns overlooking the coast. Here, it is already cooler and you can take a quiet break in one of the taverns like Krasopsichia which offers traditional cooking classes the grandmother way. If you continue 2 km on the road to the plateau, you will come across Homo Sapiens Village: the view is impressive over the bays of Malia and even Heraklion, and the rather successful reconstruction of the windmills is photogenic, but there is nothing typical here. Anyway, you will find a museum, a café with air conditioning and wifi, and above all a huge souvenir store.
