In the south-west of the country, near Jurbarkas, this basin formed by the retreat of the glaciers around the Viešvilė river has been a reserve since 1991. Its forests are home to 450 plant species, and the Artoji marshes are a bird sanctuary of great interest. The town of Kedianiai is part of this reserve. To visit the reserve itself, don't hesitate to use a small local tourist agency that organizes excursions, or ask at the nearby tourist offices. In particular, there is a small, easily accessible 1.8 km circuit that has been set up for self-guided discovery.
