SOMBANI HUT

Built in 1961, Sombani Hut has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to ten people. It provides a great base from which to explore the northeastern part of the massif and embark on ascents of spectacular surrounding peaks such as Namasile Peak (just across the front of the hut, 2,687 m), the more difficult and rugged Matambale Peak (2,642 m) and even Chinzama (2,666 m) to the south. From the plains, the quickest access (3-hour walk) is via the Sombani trail, which starts at Fort Lister.
