Tohcok shelters a very small archaeological site, managed by the inhabitants of the village, and whose excavations go back to the years 1980 when the carretera which connects Hopelchén to Campeche was built. You will have no trouble locating it because it is visible from the main road. Very modest, it is composed of about ten constructions, of which only two were brought to light. So there is still a lot to discover! The ensemble presents both oak and typically Puuc elements. The name Tohcok, which means "true nightingale" in Maya, would refer to a small blackbird(milo pardo) with coffee-colored plumage that abounds on the site.
