FESTA DI SAN LORENZO

Each year Giglio Porto celebrates San Lorenzo, its patron saint. The event involves the whole island. Among the most awaited rituals: the procession of the statue of the saint through the streets of the village, the Palio Marinaro and the fireworks display.

The Palio Marinaro is a regatta held in the arm of the sea in front of Giglio Porto. Every August 10th, the three districts of the port (Rione Saraceno, Chiesa and Moletto) challenge each other. The crews are composed of four rowers, assisted by a helmsman, and wear jerseys in the colours of their respective districts.
