33 km west of La Ceiba, a superb reserve extends to the estuaries of Ríos, Salado and San Juan, over an area of 13 255 ha. It is possible to observe manatees (with a lot of luck… in fact not counting too much), scream monkeys, white-headed monkeys, caïmans, turtles and 200 bird species. No fewer than 15 rivers bathe the banks of this wild corner of the Caribbean coast, the ecosystem that is so fragile and threatened by the farmers and ranchers in the vicinity. We walk by boat between beautiful mangroves and wet meadows.Unfortunately, visiting this reserve is not easy. It is possible to carry out the excursion by your own means… knowing that you will have to spend a lot of money anyway. Of course, it is more convenient to ensure the services of an agency that will facilitate all transportation and booking (recommended) with the Fucsa Foundation which manages the park.
