SEETHA AMMAN TEMPLE

At 2 km from the botanical garden coming from Nuwara Eliya, you will discover the temple of Sita (or Seetha). Read again the Hindu epic of the Ramayana, if you are afraid to have forgotten the episode where the companion of Rama is held prisoner by the demon of Lanka, Ravana. Do you remember it? Well, you are at the very place where the beautiful captive was waiting for her companion, later helped by Hanuman, the monkey god, to come and free her. The circular shapes on the rocks in front of the stream are said to be Hanuman's footprints.
