The mountain is the highest in the Gobi Altai range and is about 3,900 m high. It is located 125 km south of Bayankhongor. It presents some steles covered with ancient writings. Its feet dip in a salt lake, Orog Nuur, as well as many migratory birds. Moreover, vulnerable species such as the Hogdson's whinchat nest there. The mountain has been classified as a national park. Its reliefs form the point where the grassy steppes and the desert merge. It is home to rare species, such as the manul, also known as Pallas' cat, which is very difficult to observe in its natural habitat, and the argali, the wild sheep.
