This large salt water lake, about 100 km southwest of Bayankhongor, is home to many birds, which come to stop over or are sedentary in this landscape of volcanoes, canyons and caves. The lake is therefore a good place to come and observe certain species such as geese, whooper swans or relict gulls.Böön Tsagaan Nuur, as well as Taatsiin Tsagaan, Adgiin Tsagaan and Orog Nuur lakes, is part of the Valley of Lakes. This depression, which is 500 km long and about 100 km wide, is a Ramsar site since 1998 for its wetland and ecosystem, recognized as internationally important.
