Located on the edge of the Judbarra/Gregory National Park, 285 km west of Katherine and 228 km from Kununurra, Timber Creek is the last town in the NT before reaching WA. It's also a haven for inveterate fishermen in search of the famous barramundi. The Victoria River is one of the most beautiful places in the NT to try and catch one. Watch out for crocodiles. The river caused massive flooding in the region following Cyclone Ellie in late 2022. You'll see some superb baobabs in the area, including the one carved by explorer Gregory in 1855. Go to Nackeroo Lookout to gain some perspective on the surrounding area.
