Altitude: 3,685 m. This interior lake that feeds the Uru-Chipayas is dying. Natural death, officially, but mostly due to the amount of waste that private and public mining companies have dumped in the rivers of the Altiplano that feed Lago Poopó. However, the lake is a sanctuary for flamingos (you will see them if you go by train): as in the Laguna Colorada, three species can be observed there, the James' flamingo, the Andean flamingo and the Chilean flamingo. In addition, the lake is home to colonies of rheas, teal, ibis and puna plovers, micropterus grebes and condors.
