300 km from La Paz. The village of Aucapata is of little interest in itself. Outside the classical circuits, it is nevertheless worth the detour since it is the starting point of the hike towards the ruins of the citadel of Iskanwaya, supposed capital of the mollo culture, an Aymara regional culture. The ruins, located 11 km from the village, are quite large. Other treks are possible from the village, notably to the Mamakhoru site, which has less impressive ruins. It takes several days to reach Aucapata from Sorata, a good excuse for a nice excursion. Ask at the guide office in Sorata.
