DANZA DE LOS ZANCOS

On the occasion of Saint Magdalene's Day, eight young people from the village perform this "stilt dance", dressed in traditional costume. Accompanied by the tunes of drums and bagpipes, they climb a stone slope from the church to the village square, all the while performing dance steps. This folk tradition is the oldest in La Rioja: documents dating back to 1603 attest to its existence, although its origins are thought to be even older. It is also celebrated on the last Saturday in September.
