The indigenous reserve of Keköldi is managed by the indigenous organization Wak Ka Koneke, which is committed to sustainable development and conservation of natural resources. It covers a surface area of 3 583 hectares within a residential area of tropical rainforest. Almost 30% of the reserve has the characteristics of the primary forest. It is possible to stay at the scientific research centre on reservation, with US $ 20 per person per night including three meals.The Scientific Research Centre proposes activities; the funds allow biodiversity conservation and, in particular, to protect the lizards and migratory raptors. Guided tours to observe and study birds (from US $ 18 per person); discovery of the kéköldi culture, visits to green lizards intended for reintroduction, sale of crafts. Finally, opportunities to visit protected areas close to the reserve.The use of recyclable products is encouraged. To help the local population, the association creates permanent jobs within the local community. Native people in the community work for the association Keköldi Wak Ka Koneke. Many families live in agriculture.
