With an area of 150 000 hectares, Jbil national park is the largest in the country. Created in 1994, it is located 70 km from Douz and is integrated into the vast expanse of Eastern Sahara. This landscape of moving dunes shaped by the wind and rocky areas will leave nobody indifferent. In the desert, temperatures are extremely variable from season to season: in winter, they are between 6 ° C and 9 ° C, while in summer they averaged between 32 and 38 ° C, even at 50 ° C! The vegetation and flora of the park are typically Saharan: scorpions, spider spider, gazelles of dunes, fennec, varan, couleuvre… The cheetah is also present, but very difficult to observe. Jbil National Park is finally home to a large concentration of birds.
