This archaeological area preserves the ruins of three civilizations that chose to settle in this valley, rich in mining resources. The Roman temple of Antas is an architectural marvel standing in the midst of lush vegetation. Dedicated to the Sardinian deity Sardus Pater Babai, it was first a Punic building built on a Nuraghic site. This deity, known by the Carthaginians as Sid Addir Babai and by the Nuraghic civilization as Sid Addir, was taken over in Roman times by the Sardinians, who still use the word babai as a meaning for "father". Sardus Pater was a revered hunter and warrior of the valley.
